With a keen eye toward sustainability, and tremendous support from strategic partners, Yellowstone Forever is committed to assist Yellowstone National Park in long-overdue renovations of employee housing in the park.

A combination of the effects of time and harsh weather conditions, houses throughout the park no longer meet modern standards for safety, comfort, and efficiency. This low-quality housing has limited the park’s ability to attract and retain its vital workforce.

In response, Yellowstone has initiated an extensive plan to upgrade its housing. In addition, the park doubled down its commitment to conservation by using sustainable materials and practices in its renovations. These efforts will meet the needs of park staff and greatly increase the lifespan of the buildings.

The current phase of this initiative includes the renovation of approximately 50 homes in Lower Mammoth, just north of the park’s headquarters. With generous in-kind support of materials and industry expertise from partners, the renovation of one home was chosen to serve as a model for the remainder of homes in the community.

Earlier in the month, this model, modern, and sustainable house became a home to a family of seven.

A Yellowstone-sized thank you to our incredible partners who found practical and innovative building solutions to serve as a standard for renovating other area homes. From the roof to the windows to water fixtures, every aspect of the house was designed with careful consideration for comfort, efficiency, cost, and conservation.

A true public-private partnership, Yellowstone Forever aligned philanthropic corporations, funding in-kind and in-cash, to successfully advance this core park project.
