Yellowstone Guardian Members Mark and Alix Fink of Cullen, Virginia, reflect on why they have supported Yellowstone for over 20 years.

“If you value something and believe in it, you must stand up for it. It’s important to support Yellowstone because it is an irreplaceable global resource. We protect the things that we love, and we love the things that we know. If we don’t have places for those connections to happen, for that learning to happen, then all public lands and wild things will be at risk.”

Mark and Alix’s connection to Yellowstone spans more than three decades. During college, Mark worked at Lake Yellowstone Hotel, spending his days off exploring the park’s vast backcountry. Since 2005, the couple has made annual trips, deepening their appreciation and wonder for the park's iconic landscape each visit. Alix emphasizes that by supporting Yellowstone’s preservation and protection, they help ensure future visitors will experience the same profound connection to the park, fostering a growing community of advocates for Yellowstone and other wild places.
The Finks' dedication to conservation reflects Yellowstone's role in fostering a deep connection to nature and the need to protect its ecosystem for future generations.

The same safety rules apply. Give them room, use a zoom. Carry bear spray and know how to use it. Hike in groups and make noise.
